Weekend of Prayer, Healing and Worship
The Kateri Native Ministry of Ottawa celebrated its 17th Annual Saint Kateri Healing and Reconciliation Conference at Centre de l’Amour in Plantagenet, Ontario on May 15, 16 and 17. The national gathering happens every year on the May long weekend and hosts over 80 Indigenous people for prayer, healing and worship. The theme of the Conference was on Family, Unity and Hope. The weekend started with the lighting of the Sacred Fire led by Elders Irvin and Carrie Sarazin and followed by the Grand Entry of all Nations led by the Rising Cloud Singers. Our Master of Ceremonies was Michael Robinson. As well, our lead dancers were Michael and Tammy Robinson. The keynote speaker for the weekend was Father Matt Linn, SJ, who works in the Healing Ministry and travels to all parts of the world hosting and presenting on healing and reconciliation. Other guest speakers included Archbishop Terrence Prendergast, SJ and Deacon Clyde Cooke of Sault Ste. Marie. Music was performed by the Kateri Music Ministry and Father Hasina and Christine Babin. It was a truly inspirational weekend and a great way to connect, celebrate and join one another in the name of Jesus. Miigwetch to the Centre de l’Amour for the delicious food and the warm welcome and stay.
