Join Us!

We celebrate Indigenous Mass with music, fellowship and potluck at Canadian Martyrs Parish in Ottawa. Come find us at 11 AM on the 3rd Sunday of every month.

  • 100 Main St, Ottawa, ON, K1S 1C2

Music has always played a central part in mass, and we use traditional drums, chanting and rhythms to celebrate our faith.

We use the sacred practice of smudging during Mass to prepare our hearts and connect with the Creator.
During the Liturgy of the Word, the reader will hold up the feather of an eagle, a sacred animal, who in our culture flies the highest and closest to the Creator.

The Paschal Mystery

Even though Jesus lived in a different age and on a different continent, when we read the Gospels, we often encounter how closely His words align with Indigenous values. At Kateri Native Ministry, the Paschal Mystery is at the centre of our spiritual life, and as Indigenous people it offers us an incredible model to help us understand our place in Creation.

Our ancestors built a wealth of wisdom, experience and sacred traditions.

After contact with Western Civilization, Indigenous People have faced immense suffering and disconnection from generation to generation.

Indigenous culture is being restored, our knowledge is returning to the world and at Kateri Native Ministry we are discerning our path as Indigenous Christians in the 21st century.
