Thursday March 01, in the evening, there was a full moon ceremony in our office, led by Elder Elaine Kicknosway. It was a wonderful and gracious event that gathered Indigenous and non-Indigenious people. It showed how rich and deep our culture is and how everybody, no exclusion, can benefit from it. Thank you all for coming, and special thanks and appreciation to Elaine for accepting to lead the ceremony for us. Miigwetch!

We started our Lenten period with an Ash Wednesday mass at our office on Wednesday, February 14. What a beautiful celebration to start this journey towards Easter. Our “small” room was packed and some had to stand in the corridor! Wish you all a fruitful Lenten season, and thanks for coming!

Although our “Shrove Tuesday” celebration happened in the middle of a working day on Tuesday February 13, many of our community members came, participated, and shared joy and laughter along with delicious pancakes and sausages prepared by Barbara,  an amazing volunteer at the Kateri office. Thank you all for coming, and special appreciation and gratitude for Barbara.

Prayer days in Thunder Bay, ON, January 26 – 28 , 2018 was our first outreach ministry this year. Among the speakers were Jean Lebouthillier, Donna Naughton and Hasina SJ. The pipe ceremony was powerful and the healing prayers permeated the entire weekend.

The Indigenous Awareness Training on Saturday 20th January, was the first event Kateri Native Ministry has organized this year 2018, in collaboration with the Renewed Relationships Committee.
